PRESIDENT KIKWETE OPINIONS ON CLIMATE CHANGES

President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete sat down for an hour-long interview with AllAfrica's news agency, Reed Kramer and Tami Hultman at State House in Dar es Salaam. They discussed several matters including climate changes................

What are you doing along with other African leaders, to make a difference on climate change?
President Kikwete "First, let me express my deepest appreciation that there is now a greater awareness of the whole issue of climate change than there was in the past.

I think that is because all of us are beginning to feel the effect of climate change.
There now has been rainfall unreliability for the past three years, consecutively, and we don't have good rains in many parts of the country.

This year there is drought in the areas of the country that border Kenya, and the Masai that live along the border are suffering immensely. They have lost a lot of their cattle. There is no pasture, no water for their cattle. It's a very disastrous situation. The changing water patterns are very much a factor of climate change, and it has dawned on us that this thing is real.

We have problems, also, with rising sea levels. Along the coast here, many of the wells that used to have fresh water now have salt water. Sea water has come into those wells.

I come from Bagamoyo, just north of here. We grew up using water from wells. Now these wells don't have fresh water anymore. So you can see the effects.

There is one island north of Bagamoyo - Maziwe, near the coastal town of Pangani - that used to be the breeding place of the green turtles. It has been totally submerged. Disappeared! The turtles had to move along the coast. So we have these real problems.

Essentially it is a question of increased carbon dioxide - carbon emissions. We're not responsible for that. Of course, cutting trees can also contribute, but we have not cut so much. We have set aside close to 30 percent of our territory for conservation - conservation of wildlife and forest reserves. Of course, the charcoaling in urban areas involves a significant cutting of trees. But comparatively, you cannot blame that for the global warming.

What we're saying is that those who are responsible for huge carbon emissions into the atmosphere that cause the problems of climate change should take responsibility. We want equal, but differentiated, responsibility. This is the catch-phrase that we use.

Fortunately, these developed countries have the resources for reducing carbon emissions. But, also, they have the technology to prevent more emissions into the atmosphere. We just want them to do what should be done.

I think what is really lacking is political will. For us, we are busy with adaptation and mitigation. And for that, as well, we need the support of developed countries.

In the town I made reference to, Pangani, we are now building a huge wall.

Otherwise the town will also be submerged, inundated. These are now the measures we are taking for adaptation.

For mitigation, we need to continue to preserve our forests. The only problem is if you preserve the forests you are not rewarded for it. You're only rewarded if you cut and plant, so maybe we [need to] cut and plant, but we don't want to be irresponsible!

We hope the meeting in Copenhagen will be a meeting of hope. The new administration in the U.S. has given us hope that they will be more responsive to the needs of climate change. All our eyes and ears are looking at Copenhagen."

KUMRADHI.

WELCOME TO TANZANIA

THE ONLY PLACE IN THE WORLD YOU CAN FIND TREE CLIMBING LIONS............

STOP BLAMING GIVE HAITI SUPPORT..........

In recent days the word press has been criticizing the HAITIAN government about the instability and lack of effectiveness during this period of natural calamity which has occurred in their country. For a country like Haiti where by half of the children in Haiti are unvaccinated and just 40% of the population has access to basic health care.Even before the 2010 earthquake, nearly half the causes of deaths have been attributed to HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, meningitis and diarrhea diseases, including cholera and typhoid, according to the World Health Organization ninety percent of Haiti’s children suffer from waterborne diseases and intestinal parasites.Approximately 5% of Haiti's adult population is infected with HIV.Cases of tuberculosis (TB) in Haiti are more than ten times as high as those in other Latin American countries. Some 30,000 people in Haiti suffer each year from malaria. Those are just figures given out by the world health organization. You can see this is not the place or time to blame the government the country was in worst condition even before the calamity. What should be done is to find the possible way to serve innocent people who are staking in stones and dieing slowly.
During the period of natural calamity no country is strong we have seen hurricane Catrina when it strike United State of America even the world strongest government fail to respond on time and providing immediate attention to people.I believe someone who has the desire to help should help and stop talking nonsense words.LETS JOIN OUR HANDS TOGETHER TO SERVE OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO ARE SUFFERING.

GOOGLE VS CHINA

In this photo, Chinese use computers at an Internet cafe in Fuyang in central China's Anhui province. Google Inc.'s threat to shut down its China-based site Google.cn over censorship and e-mail hacking alarmed a Internet-connected public that has tolerated a gap between rapid economic and technological progress and a closed, secretive political system. The situation in China has put the Technology world in contradiction trying to understand which side is wright.China is claiming the right to check on Google servers for the sake of their national security and Google is claiming that the behavior of China is the intervention of privacy...

HISTORIA

My eyes have seen..........................

Happy holidays and happy new year, its a great pleasure for me to write again in this year
2010.We thank God year 2009 is over .I believe this is the new beginning for us
Tanzania students living in Bangalore.
My eyes have seen a lot in the year 2009 some of them are bad and some of them are
good but all in all whatever happen , it happen for a reason and I believe challenges are
there to make us better not bitter .They say only a strong flame can make a better steel
and there is no sweet without sweat . I just want to talk about few things I saw this year.
My eyes have seen some people sent back home by their parents because they have fail
to fulfill their responsibilities as the students .Say what ever you want to say but it
is the reality and always someone should talk about the reality .One thing I hate most, it
is failing to tell each other the truth just because we are hanging out together and share
the funny together . These things are happening every day so if your a fresher be careful
it might happen to you also if you do not know what was the reason for you to be sent to
India.
My eyes have seen people graduating but still staking in India because of the back
papers, someone has to clear the exam he or she had failed in a certain semester in his or
her course so that he or she can get his or her certificate, sometimes it happen but before
it happens you must be prepared and know that something like this can happen and how
you can overcome it .The best way to do that is to divide your time and realize your
responsibilities and make sure you give them the special privileges they require.
My eyes have seen people becoming alcoholic and drug addicts because of the money
their parents are sending .They become messed up and acting so shameful that no one
can withstand their behaviors in public .I consider this to be the disease it can catch
anyone who is not careful with his or her decisions ,who is living a life as if is following
the band wagon .This disease is out there be careful make sure it does not catch you in
the year 2010.
My eyes have seen people getting in serious police cases in which some of them have
damaged their dreams of graduating in India and fulfill their dreams .Am not saying you
can escape God wishes of accidents happening to you, because I have been in police
station once having accident with my friends bike .I believe there some cases we can
run away from them and prevents our self into their traps just by being careful with the
choices we make .Cases like caught in someones house making noises and disturbing
peace of the neighborhood or fighting for a women in the night club or running away
from the traffic jams and causing an accident while you do not even have the driving
license .I believe is something which you can overcome in the year 2010.
My eyes have seen people failing to attend important family activities in Tanzania just
because they do not have the residential permit or the house agreement .I believe
behaviors like this are totally the act of being irresponsible, someone is failing to have
something which require you the whole year just to update it .What is this ,are we out of
our mind or what? I believe there some problems we are creating them by our self .
My eyes have seen people pretending to be good but stealing from others and covering
themselves with the respect they have in the society .I do not blame them for this the
man without faith is the same as the animal, please God help them realize their mistakes.
I believe we are just passing here I believe what we are doing today determine how we
will live tomorrow.
My eyes have seen freshers falling into traps of their seniors ,by following their lives
and falling into their mess also .I believe they do not know what they are doing just
because some of them they are still young and it is the first time to be far away from
home .Please guys am talking about you the seniors give them the proper path and stop
making them to fall onto your mess.
Lastly,my eyes have seen a lot of great things also establishment of our blog, the unity
and solidarity among Tanzanians, more academic opportunities being created by the
students government and so on .But our weakness are the one which make us bad in
front of the people and the society and only when we manage to remove them. then we
will be perfect .Please the Almighty help us to achieve this
Happy new year guys 2010...........................................
